S is for Sweeties

Now that we are into week 6 I can finally admit my luck. My class is full of sweeties. I mean there are one or two girls who get sassy and a few boys who laugh at inappropriate times...but they are just plain SWEET.

Yes, there are times they can put in more effort on their work or stop with the chitter chatter when I stop talking for 30 seconds, but I love them all.

They've already earned 46 hallway compliments this year!

The best/worst part of it all is that I will "get on" to them about something and they either THANK me or APOLOGIZE sincerely!

Darling #1: Yes, Ms. Buckler?
Me: It is not safe to play tag at the very top of slide. Please play tag in the grass.
Darling #1: Oh, you're right. I forgot. I'm sorry. Thank you for reminding me.

Not even kidding!

Me during centers: DARLING #2 PLEASE COME HERE!
Darling #2: Yes ma'am?
Me: I did not hear a win-win solution to the problem that just came up over there. Can you please work with your partner to find an appropriate solution?
Darling #2: Oh certainly. I'm sorry I wasn't thinking like a leader. I should go apologize for the way I talked to my partner.

I can't make this stuff up! This set of kids is fabulous and come from fabulous families.

The examples they come up with when we are talking about the 7 Habits of Happy kids could bring tears to your eyes.

Here are some further examples of sweetness.

**These are real children. Not actors. They were not reimbursed for their testimonies.**

The words in this include: amazing, nice, person, pretty. Interpret as you'd like.

Her grade was not based on that note.
I know I am lucky to have such an "a mazeg" class, but I needed it. This is what makes the job worth it.

Happy Tuesday,

W is for Winners (and What the?!)

Okay...I have to start off with the What the?! I really dislike when my students say this, but it's what popped in my mind when I was verifying the entries on Rafflecopter.

Call me what you want, but I had to be a meanie. I chose three winners and wanted to see which of their entries got them the win.

Well wouldn't you know it, the (first) winner of the $25 gift card won with the "Donate to a Cause"  worth 25 entries. Um, WHAT THE?! I CAN VERIFY THAT! I did not see a donation on the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life page so I KNOW that wasn't an honest entry.

So I went through the rest of the Rafflecopter entries and DELETED those entries. I love that Rafflecopter lets you control some honesty is this big, crazy world.

Sorry if that's mean, but come on!

Anyhoo, I chose a new winner for the $25 dollars and am happy that it was someone who has supported my TPT store and had HONEST entries.

Now that my little rant is done...Here are the (real) winners!

Congratulations ladies! I have emailed you about your win.

I am having a 20% off sale in my TPT shop for the rest of you awesome supporters.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

C is for Communities

So my class had to work in groups of four to create a picture of a community. (Yes, teammates...I'm doing the wrong lesson...)

Here are their communities and my comments. These ones I thought in my head...not out loud to students:

Wow! Color Town looks, er, colorfu! These kids really got into the "you may use markers" idea.

Eh...Maybe I should have added some more artists to this group...I love how kids think the sky stops in the middle of the paper.

This one was really cute. I loved the fenced in flying pond and mobile home on wheels.

This one was interesting. I especially enjoyed the store called "Wines" (look closely). They fixed that after to "Wings" which is a restaurant. =)
Needless to say this activity was graded more on working with a group than artistic quality.

We'll be continuing to work on both of those things. I will be continuing to work on getting the annoying "Live! Work! Play!" song out of my head. Anybody else use TCI for Social Studies?

Don't forget to enter my giveaway!

R is for Relay Recess

Woo hoo! 300 followers! I am so excited. I'm working on a fun giveaway so be watching out.

Okay, now I've tired myself out with that little burst of energy.

It's the fourth week of school and I did something I RARELY do. I went home in the middle of the day. That's right. I woke up this morning and dragged myself to school. Then called in for a sub.

Thankfully, a substitute picked up the job right away and even showed up early.

I took this half day to recover. Seems like I picked up a little cold on my trip this weekend. I got to go to Florida's Relay for Life Team Development Summit in Orlando.

They put me up in a room like this:

So lucky getting this room to myself. Total fluke...
 With a view like this:

Got pepped up in a room like this:

And ate lots of yummy food like this:

I am the Team Development Chair for our town's Relay for Life. If you've never heard of Relay for Life, it is an event put on by the American Cancer Society to raise money for the fight against cancer. I strongly encourage you to check it out.

I relay for my grandmas, my friends, and every single child fighting cancer. I believe that I can help create a future where people will not have to relay anymore.

Luminarias at the 2012 Relay for Life.

We learned all about recruiting volunteers and teams for this wonderful event and I met tons of amazing people. I feel bad for even complaining about having a cold when there are so many people battling the terrible disease.

The thing I wanted to share with you is something that looks like a ton of fun. It's called Relay Recess.

Click to go to the website.

Here is a quick video to explain the concept:

If you do the 7 Habits at your school, this goes along with it PERFECTLY.

My school has never done Relay Recess, but I'm going to look into it. It looks like so much fun.

I hope you take a minute to check out the Relay for Life website and get involved. You won't regret it.

Let me know if you've ever done this at your school or are thinking about it. I'd love to share ideas.

Be on the lookout for an upcoming giveaway!

C is for Currently (September)

Shew! September is here. This month is going to be BUSY!

Right now I'm taking the time to link up to Farley's current Currently.

Sometimes I like to pretend I'm the 4th Pistol Annie. I think it could work. Two blondes and two brunettes. I can be "Sunshine Annie".

My lovely new principal instituted "Spirit Day" on Mondays. We get to wear our (bright orange) shirts with jeans if we pay $1. Love it! Also, every Friday is jeans day with a school polo! Less laundry for me. =)

We will be starting the third week of school tomorrow and the only Monday we've had was the first day! Thanks to Tropical Storm Isaac and Labor Day we've missed two Mondays. Four day weeks are okay by me. Especially when my lovely new principal let us move our Spirit Days to the Tuesdays.

Although I love wearing jeans to school, I have to give up my favorite shoe wear...flip flops. This girl would wear no shoes if they let me. Guess this means I need some shoes that are cute and comfy and school appropriate.

No matter how much extra time wearing jeans gives me and having two Mondays off in a row, I CANNOT seem to get it together and make a lunch plan. It would be so much easier if I had a personal chef to pack me a lunch everyday.

Here's what I'm loving this long weekend:
College football is back! So excited the Gators won their first game. I CAN'T WAIT until they win their last game, too. It's our year Noles!

I had a coupon for these cookies. I am in love with them. Yeah, not the healthiest choice, but so good.

Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss
Anybody else have to get every single bonus from Clinique like I do? I have a serious make-up bag collection. Clinique is basically the only beauty brand I splurge on, but when it come with free stuff why not? Free is for me!

I hope the rest of you are enjoying your Monday. Oh, and I'm three followers away from 300! Any ideas for a giveaway?  =)
