C is for Currently {October}

Hello October! I love this month. Here in Florida the temps are still in the 90s, the leaves are still hanging on to their green before they turn brown, and you can't wear any sort of Halloween costume that has face paint/a mask/sleeves because you sweat yourself out of it. Nonetheless, I find it to be so much fun. I blame it on the "kid" in me.

A new month also means time for a new Currently:

 

Yeah, here in Florida we still have summer-like thunderstorms at random times of the day.

October means I get to read Stellaluna. I posted about it {here} last year.  

I totally cracked up rereading that one. 

Yeah sure, I could read it whenever I want because I'm the teacher, but it just goes so well with Halloween.  We also make a paper quilt that goes with it. So much fun! (More on the paper quilts tomorrow.)

C is for Currently (September)

Shew! September is here. This month is going to be BUSY!

Right now I'm taking the time to link up to Farley's current Currently.

Sometimes I like to pretend I'm the 4th Pistol Annie. I think it could work. Two blondes and two brunettes. I can be "Sunshine Annie".

My lovely new principal instituted "Spirit Day" on Mondays. We get to wear our (bright orange) shirts with jeans if we pay $1. Love it! Also, every Friday is jeans day with a school polo! Less laundry for me. =)

We will be starting the third week of school tomorrow and the only Monday we've had was the first day! Thanks to Tropical Storm Isaac and Labor Day we've missed two Mondays. Four day weeks are okay by me. Especially when my lovely new principal let us move our Spirit Days to the Tuesdays.

Although I love wearing jeans to school, I have to give up my favorite shoe wear...flip flops. This girl would wear no shoes if they let me. Guess this means I need some shoes that are cute and comfy and school appropriate.

No matter how much extra time wearing jeans gives me and having two Mondays off in a row, I CANNOT seem to get it together and make a lunch plan. It would be so much easier if I had a personal chef to pack me a lunch everyday.

Here's what I'm loving this long weekend:

 

College football is back! So excited the Gators won their first game. I CAN'T WAIT until they win their last game, too. It's our year Noles!

 

I had a coupon for these cookies. I am in love with them. Yeah, not the healthiest choice, but so good. 

Anybody else have to get every single bonus from Clinique like I do? I have a serious make-up bag collection. Clinique is basically the only beauty brand I splurge on, but when it come with free stuff why not? Free is for me! 

I hope the rest of you are enjoying your Monday. Oh, and I'm three followers away from 300! Any ideas for a giveaway?  =)

C is for Currently (August)

Yay! August is here! It is a month full of so much fun.

That includes Farley's Currently linky.



Here's mine!

I want someone to just go to the store and get me some new school clothes. Hopefully ones on sale. And ones that fit. Those two things never seem to go together for me. I have no style requirements besides those two things. If only it were as easy as Pinterest makes it look.

I'm so loving my new laminator. I don't need to print on card stock anymore. The laminate is so think. I should buy stock in Scotch.

Back to school must haves:

1. Every summer I get my Lakeshore coupon in the mail and have to get my plan book ASAP!

Can't live without this one!

And then put the dates in it making sure to put extra big "NO SCHOOL" on days off.

2. I also need to get stock in HP. I so love me some color printing. That I of course laminate as soon as the ink dries.

3. The first week back can get a little tense with us teachers trying to get it all done in time for the darlings' arrival. I've got to remember that it's all in how I handle things and keep it positive. Just keep swimming! (See this post's opening line today...I'm trying!)

I went to an iPod training yesterday. The teachers at my school are so lucky and we all get some new iPod touches for our classes. We are big on technology and very blessed to get these things for our Title 1 students to use.

Maybe I should get stock in Apple, too...

C is for Currently {July}

It's that time again! How did July get here so fast?

I'm linking up with Farley for this month's Currently.

Since I am always a rule follower {snicker...ah hem} here are my two books:

One of my favorite read alouds is "The Perfect Nest" (I even did a post about it awhile ago). If you need a funny read aloud to lighten the mood or fill up time, this is the book for you! Funny voices are a must...

 My go to professional-ish book is "Reading Strategies {That Work!}." This book includes many strategies that I incorporate into my guided reading groups. There are activities that meet the many different levels found in a typical classroom. I love that there is a reproducible bookmark that had an icon for each of the strategies used. I will work on a post about this book when I can did it out of storage. You can get it used on Amazon for one shiny penny! Well worth it. =)

Guess what!

I'm getting married!

Hahahaha! APRIL FOOLS!

I am not 80 or insane (those are my two conditions for getting married).

If I could have a fast forward finger snap super power, I'd use it for boring times like professional development youtube buffering time. You know, those little things that you can't get life time credit for suffering through.

C is for Currently in March

A new month means a new Currently Linky Party from Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade.

  

The rules for 3 Words is that the words have to start with the first letter of my last name and be a word that my students/friends/family would use to describe me.

Anybody have any ideas for quick to put together fundraisers that have worked at your school? For students and/or teachers? We're on the home stretch for Relay for Life (March 23!) and I would like to do something else before it. 

We've done: Jeans month, Penny Race, Mystery Eggs (filled with candy), face painting on Fridays, and baked goods.
